Collaborative effort benefits residents

Wright Care Home Solutions and Visual Communication Aids (vca) have joined forces to help thousands of people with Alzheimer’s, and other Dementia, throughout the country.

Julie Wright was introduced to vca’s innovative books and picture path-finding signage for people with communication challenges when she started using them in a care home that she was advising. Julie, a Registered Mental Nurse with a passion for improving standards of care for those who have dementia, witnessed how the images in the books helped residents communicate without difficulty and without frustration, whilst the easy to identify pictures on the way-finding signs made it easier for both residents and visitors to find their way around the home. She said; “I was amazed at how well the books and signs work - it’s such a simple concept but vca has researched it extensively and executed it well with simple diagrams and durable, wipe clean materials”.

“I was so impressed that I wanted to meet vca’s founders to discuss further opportunities. I was doubly delighted to find out that they are based in Yorkshire too.”

vca co-founders Elaine Everett and Michele Wilson are delighted with the collaboration. Michele explained; “The synergy between the two businesses is perfect.  Our combined experience in the care home industry spans several decades and Julie and her team’s reputation for patient care and dementia expertise makes Wright Care the perfect sounding board and new product development mentor.”

The visual aid books and signs use a series of specially commissioned drawings to convey everyday situations and help to alleviate some of the communication problems associated with Alzheimer's and other Dementia.
